Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fierce lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime series Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her the age of five and was awarded a Best Actress award in a Maryland high-school competition. In the years following her involvement in theater as well as with "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting certificate from New York University. The first role she played on screen in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was a success and earned an immense amount of admiration. After that, she appeared in movies like "Boogie Nights Spark" as well as "Blue Streak". Soul Food was an immensely well-loved TV show. She also appeared in TV series such as Second Time Around' and Empire. In the beginning of her career, she was in numerous stage productions. Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and lived in Nigeria over seven years experienced a variety of cultural experiences and travels at an early age. She went to boarding school from the age of 7 to 9 in London. Later her family moved back in Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she spent her entire childhood. Contractor was a brilliant scholar in Toronto and was trained as a classical ballet dancer. She went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It is a special high-school for the arts, which allowed her to not just learn about theater, but also dance as well. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that acting was going to be her career. She had danced for a decade. When she graduated from high school she accepted a full scholarship to the University of Toronto, where she completed a masters degree in theater and a dual major in sociology and psychology. Contractor, who had been a student for a year and auditioned during an open call for Pericles in the world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. Her performance was lauded for the 92 shows that she performed in. She was awarded the 2002 award for the best production of the Year by Canadian Critics. Contractor accepted the offer to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females accepted to a course of 20 weeks of classical theater. Contractor's participation in the next play-season was confirmed and she got the part of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
